The Speaker of the Assembly of Kosovo, Glauk Konjufca travels today to The Hague where he will meet the former leaders of the Kosovo Liberation Army who are staying in the detention center of the Specialized Chambers of Kosovo.

Before leaving, he told KosovaPress that the country's institutions are concerned with what is happening there, adding that the purpose of this visit is to show that they are following these processes more closely.

He confirmed for KosovaPress the trip to The Hague and the meeting with those he called the main figures of the Kosovo Liberation Army, who according to him, are being tried unfairly.

Konjufca has criticized their detention for almost two years until the trial begins.

"It has been almost two years since they were taken, in fact it has been two years since the indictment was issued because in June 2020 we saw the indictment for the first time, and so far the trial has not started yet.

In terms of courts and trials where we are dealing with defendants, this can be freely called a tendency of isolation of persons, ie isolation that they can not be with their families, that they can not be in their place and be detached from their public activity that they actually had.

This is in my opinion very worrying, and our institutions for this reason are worried about what is happening there ", said Konjufca.

With his visit to The Hague, Konjufca is aiming to show that Kosovo institutions are close to this process.

"The purpose of this visit is also to show that our institutions are close to this process, they are following it closely, we also have our criticisms of how this court is functioning, there are many defects which have identified everyone, so that The basic right that in my opinion is being violated in their process, is a right which is guaranteed by the European Convention on Human Rights, it is also in the Constitution of Kosovo, and according to this convention which is more important for the Union itself. "Europe, and for this great democratic family of values, it is the right of the individual that when he is within a judicial process to consume this time within the most reasonable time possible, we are not seeing this in the Special Court," he said. the President of the Assembly.

Konjufca was asked if he would address all these criticisms in front of the institution of Specialized Chambers, but he announced that during this visit there will be no meetings other than with KLA leaders.

"Not this time I will meet only all those important members of the Kosovo Liberation Army Staff, who are being unjustly tried there.

"I will meet everyone", Konjufca concluded.

Otherwise, Glauk Konjufca is becoming the first senior state official to meet all former KLA leaders at the Hague detention center, including the two main figures of the Democratic Party of Kosovo, Hashim Thaci and Kadri Veselin.
