Nearly 10,000 Ukrainian civilians have been killed or injured since the outbreak of the war, according to the United Nations.

Figures released today by the Office of the UN High Commissioner for Human Rights suggest that 4,452 civilians were killed and 5,531 were injured, Telegrafi reports.

The death toll since February 24 includes 280 children.

The deaths and injuries were caused by the use of explosive weapons with a wide range of impact, including shelling and rocket attacks, the OHCHR says.

The organization believes that the current figures are significantly higher than those reported, while the casualties from the fierce fighting zones have not yet been confirmed.
