The United Arab Emirates (UAE) has ordered a four-month suspension in the export and re-export of wheat and wheat flour originating in India.

This information has been received from the state news agency WAA on Wednesday.

According to the news of Reuters

, the Ministry of Economy of the Gulf country has given the reason behind this decision to the interruption in global trade flow.

Also said that India had approved the export of wheat to UAE for domestic consumption. 

A statement said that companies wishing to export or re-export Indian wheat brought to the UAE before May 13 must first apply to the Ministry of Economy.

India is the second largest producer of cereals in the world.

At the same time, India had banned the export of wheat with immediate effect as part of measures to control rising prices at the domestic level.

However, the Directorate General of Foreign Trade (DGFT) said in this notification issued on May 13, "The export of consignments for which irrevocable letters of credit (LOCs) have been issued on or before the date of this notification will be allowed."

The United Arab Emirates and India signed a comprehensive trade and investment agreement in February.

Which was linked to the deduction of all duties on each other's goods.

It aims to increase its annual business to $100 billion within five years.

This agreement, known as the Comprehensive Economic Partnership Trade Agreement (CEPA), came into effect on May 1.
