The Federal Government of Canada has abolished the requirements for vaccination against COVID-19 for passengers on domestic and international travel, the BBC reported.

With the rapid decline in infections and about 81% of the population fully vaccinated, officials said they could lift the requirement for a vaccination certificate.

The requirement to vaccinate federal officials has also been suspended.

The new rules are due to take effect on June 20th, a government statement said.

As of October 30, 2021, anyone over the age of 12 was required to be vaccinated against coronavirus in order to board a plane or train in Canada.

Passengers will still be required to wear masks while traveling.

Unvaccinated Canadians may still face obstacles, as some countries, including the United States, require vaccination for most foreigners.
