Police registered FIR

Police in Uttar Pradesh's Bulandshahr on Monday arrested a man who had purportedly shared an objectionable video on social media related to a controversy surrounding certain remarks made against Prophet Muhammad.

The officers provided this information.

The police have cautioned the public against posting or sharing such material on social media platforms, which may create communal disharmony.

Police Officer (Syana) Vandana Sharma said that Nadeem Ansari, a resident of Khanpur town, had shared the objectionable video on his Facebook account.

Cognizance of the matter was taken immediately and an FIR was registered at the local police station following which Ansari was arrested.

Ansari has been booked under relevant sections of the Indian Penal Code.

Sharma also appealed to the residents of Bulandshahr to refrain from posting objectionable and hurting religious sentiments on social media.

"Police is monitoring social media regularly and if any person is found to intentionally hurt religious sentiments or post disturbing harmony, legal action will be taken against them," the official said.
