PM Narendra Modi has made a big announcement regarding jobs or rather unemployment. It has been decided to fill 10 lakh posts in the next 18 months.

It is being considered a big bet of the Modi government before the 2024 elections, as the opposition has often surrounded the government with unemployment and vacant posts.

  • Prime Minister Narendra Modi has asked various government departments and ministries to work in "mission mode" to recruit one million people in the next one and a half years.

    The Prime Minister's Office (PMO) gave this information on Tuesday. 

  • The PMO said that this instruction of the Prime Minister has come after reviewing the human resource situation in all government departments and ministries.

  • Along with this, Defense Minister Rajnath Singh has announced 'Agneepath Recruitment Scheme' today and during this time said that the youth have a chance to join the army for short term.

    Rajnath Singh said that in the last several years, many steps have been taken to strengthen the defense system.

    Agneepath plan is being brought to make the army the best army in the world.

    Agniveer will come to strengthen the security of the country.

    Job opportunities will increase.

  • This decision of the Prime Minister has come amidst constant criticism of the government from the opposition on the issue of unemployment.

    The issue of vacant posts in various government sectors has also been in the headlines for some time now.

    With one million posts to be filled in the next 18 months, the ruling Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) at the Center will have a solid answer to every criticism of the opposition on the issue of unemployment in the upcoming 2024 Lok Sabha elections.

    The next election to the Lok Sabha is likely to be held in the month of April-May 2024. 

  • According to the latest annual report on salaries and allowances released by the Department of Expenditure under the Ministry of Finance, the total number of regular civil employees (including union territories) of the central government as on March 1, 2020, stood at 31.91 lakh, while the total number of sanctioned posts was 40.78. was lakh.

    Accordingly, about 21.75 percent posts were vacant.

    The report said that about 92 percent of the total labor force comes under five major ministries or departments, these include Railways, Defense (Civil), Home Affairs, Posts and Revenue. 

  • Railways share 40.55 per cent, Home Affairs 30.5 per cent, Defense (Civil) 12.31 per cent, Posts 5.66 per cent, Revenue 3.26 per cent and other Ministries and Departments out of the prescribed strength of 31.33 lakh posts (excluding Union Territories). is 7.72 percent.

  • Total expenditure on salaries and allowances (excluding productivity-linked bonus or ad-hoc bonus, honorarium, encashment of earned leave and traveling allowance) of regular civil employees of Central Government including Union Territories and Embassies in the year 2019-20 Rs. 2,25,744.7 crore Whereas in March 2018-19 this figure was Rs 2,08,960.17 crore.

  • According to this report- There were 9.05 lakh employees in March 2020 against the total sanctioned posts of 10.16 lakh in Central Security Forces.

  • According to government sources, detailed information about the vacancies was sought from various departments and ministries, and after a thorough review, the Prime Minister directed the recruitment of 10 lakh people.

  • In the last assembly elections, the opposition parties had raised the issue of unemployment vigorously, but the BJP had blunted the edge of the opposition attack and achieved success, keeping the issues of Hindutva along with welfare schemes and development.

    On the issue of unemployment, the BJP has also consistently rejected the allegations of the opposition saying that the various programs of the government have given a boost to entrepreneurship and employment generation in the country.
