Two terrorists were killed in the encounter and their bodies have been recovered from the spot.

Security forces on Tuesday killed two Lashkar-e-Taiba terrorists, including a Pakistani national, in an encounter in Jammu and Kashmir's capital Srinagar.

According to the police, both the slain terrorists were part of a group which was planning to attack the Amarnath Yatra.

The officer said that five policemen have also been injured in this encounter.

According to a police spokesman, the slain terrorists have been identified as Abdullah Ghaujri, a resident of Faisalabad, Pakistan, and Adil Hussain Mir alias Sufiyan alias Musab, a resident of Anantnag.  

The spokesman said that both the terrorists were linked to the banned outfit Lashkar-e-Taiba and were being continuously monitored after escaping from an encounter in Sopore.

According to a police spokesperson, acting on specific intelligence inputs about the activities of terrorists in Bemina area of ​​Srinagar, the police set up a special check post there.

He said that during the investigation, both the suspected terrorists opened indiscriminate fire on the police party.

Five policemen injured in the encounter have been admitted to the hospital.

A police spokesman said that Mir had also gone to Pakistan in 2018 with a visa from the Wagah border.

Inspector General of Police, Kashmir Zone, Vijay Kumar said that both the terrorists were part of the group which was planning the attack on Amarnath Yatra.

This encounter is being considered a big success for the security forces.

According to a police spokesman, several incriminating materials including two AK-47 rifles, 10 magazines, 165 live cartridges, matrix sheets and Pakistani medicines have been recovered from the slain terrorists.
