Kiran Bedi apologizes after funny remarks on Sikhs

New Delhi :

The Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) on Tuesday accused former Puducherry governor Kiran Bedi of hurting the sentiments of the Sikh community during the launch of her book in Chennai.

A video has gone viral on social media in which former IPS officer Kiran Bedi can be seen purportedly making witty remarks about "12 o'clock" on Sikhs during the launch event of her book 'Fearless Governance' on Monday.

AAP's Punjab in-charge Jarnail Singh condemned Bedi's remarks.

Singh tweeted, "When Mughals were taking away India by looting and kidnapping sisters and daughters, then only Sikhs used to fight with them and sisters used to protect daughters.

12 o'clock was the time to attack the Mughals.

This is the history of 12 o'clock.

He said, "Shame on BJP's small-minded leaders who make fun of Sikhs instead of giving respect." In a statement issued by the party, Jarnail Singh accused Bedi of hurting the sentiments of the Sikh community.

The AAP leader said that it is highly condemnable that Kiran Bedi, who belongs to Punjab, deliberately made fun of Sikhs.

On the other hand, Bedi tweeted that she did not intend to hurt anyone's sentiments.

She tweeted that I have the highest respect for my community.

I am a devotee of Baba Nanak Dev Ji.

Whatever I have told the audience on my behalf (because I am also there) please don't misunderstand it.

I apologize for this.

I believe in service and kindness.

I have the highest regards for my community.

I am a devotee of Baba Nanak Dev ji.

What I said to the audience even at my own cost (as I also belong here) be kindly not misread. I seek forgiveness for this. I am the last person to cause any hurt.

I believe in Seva & loving kindness ????

Let us inform that after such videos of Kiran daughter surfaced, many types of indecent comments are also being seen on social media.

On this, Kiran Bedi has said in another tweet that despite I regret this, many people are saying indecent things on email, WhatsApp and Twitter.

I request him not to do this and not put me in such a position that I have to put him in the public domain.

It would be extremely embarrassing to identify those who say abusive things.
