Mahadik defeated Sanjay Pawar of Shiv Sena in the election for the sixth Rajya Sabha seat.

Mumbai:

Shiv Sena MP Sanjay Raut on Sunday said that BJP leader Devendra Fadnavis will also vote in favor of Shiv Sena if the Enforcement Directorate (ED) control is given to his party.

Raut's reaction comes in the backdrop of the defeat of Shiv Sena candidate Sanjay Pawar on the sixth seat in the elections to the six Rajya Sabha seats in Maharashtra on Friday.

The fight on this seat had become a question of prestige for the BJP and the Shiv Sena.

The credit for the victory of BJP's Dhananjay Mahadik in the sixth Rajya Sabha seat in Maharashtra is being given to Fadnavis, the Leader of Opposition in the Assembly.

Mahadik defeated Sanjay Pawar of Shiv Sena in the election for the sixth Rajya Sabha seat.

Ahead of the elections, Raut had alleged that the BJP was using central agencies to pressurize independents and smaller parties to vote in favor of the BJP candidate.

Some independents and smaller parties had promised support to the Shiv Sena, but they played a key role in the victory of the BJP candidate.

Talking to reporters on Sunday, Raut said, "If the ED's control is given to us for two days, then Devendra Fadnavis will also vote for us."

Shiv Sena's chief spokesperson on Saturday termed the BJP's victory in three Rajya Sabha seats in Maharashtra as a "victory achieved through horse-trading".

He also accused the Election Commission of favoring the opposition party (BJP).

He accused the BJP of putting pressure on the Election Commission.

"Some horses were for sale at a high price, who switched sides despite promising to vote in favor of our candidate," Raut said.

When asked about the remark, Raut said on Sunday, "We were only expressing our sentiments.

They (who didn't vote for Shiv Sena) as well as BJP know what we are saying.
