The number of Ukrainians who left their country and arrived in Poland after the Russian invasion in February has exceeded 4 million, the Polish Border Service said on Twitter today.

The latest figures show that 24,900 people arrived in Poland yesterday, bringing the number to more than 4 million.

However, it is not possible to say how many of these people remained in Poland and how many continued to other Western European countries.

Recently, Polish President Mateusz Morawiecki said his country had accepted about 2 million Ukrainian refugees.

In addition, the flow is not one-way.

Yesterday, Polish authorities also noted that many people were returning to areas that were back under Ukrainian control after Russia's initial invasion.

Prior to the invasion, Ukraine's population was over 44 million.

Many of the refugees headed to Poland, which has a 500-kilometer border with Ukraine, BTA added.
