New Delhi:

BJP leader Naveen Kumar Jindal, who was expelled from the party for making objectionable remarks on Prophet Muhammad, has called his family a threat.

He said his family was in danger of being attacked by Islamic fundamentalists.

He tweeted on Saturday, "I urge everyone not to share any information about me and my family with anyone. Despite my request, many people are posting my address on social media. My family is threatened by Islamic fundamentalists."

Requested action from Delhi Police

Jindal also shared a screenshot of a number from where he claimed to have received threats and urged Delhi Police to take action.

Jindal was expelled by the BJP last week.

The party had taken action against him and national spokesperson Nupur Sharma for his remarks on Prophet Muhammad, which provoked protests at home and abroad.

Action after objectionable statement

Naveen Jindal said, "The safety of the family is his priority right now, which he has to ensure."

Announcing action against Jindal, Delhi BJP chief Adesh Gupta's letter said that his remarks have disturbed communal harmony and violated the fundamental beliefs of the party.

"Your primary membership is immediately terminated and you are expelled from the party," Gupta had said.
