Monsoon entry in Mumbai

Mumbai:

Monsoon has advanced into some parts of Maharashtra, some more parts of Karnataka today.

IMD has shared this information by tweeting.

IMD has said in a tweet that the South-West Monsoon has reached Mumbai today, June 11, 2022.

The Meteorological Department said in a tweet that today the Southwest Monsoon has advanced into remaining parts of 11 central Arabian Sea, most parts of Konkan (including Mumbai), some parts of Madhya Maharashtra, some more parts of Karnataka.

Conditions are favorable for further advance of Monsoon into parts of North Arabian Sea, remaining parts of Konkan, parts of Gujarat state, most parts of Madhya Maharashtra, entire Karnataka and parts of Tamil Nadu, Telangana, Andhra Pradesh.

Heavy rains are likely to continue over Northeast India and Sub-Himalayan region West Bengal and Sikkim in the coming 5 days.

At the same time, in the next few hours, there will be rain with strong winds and thunderstorms in Thane, Raigad, Palghar, Ratnagiri and adjoining areas of Mumbai.

It rained in some parts of Maharashtra this morning itself.

Trees were uprooted at many places.

The Meteorological Department said that during the next 3-4 hours, lightning accompanied with gusting to 30-40 kmph gusting to 30-40 kmph at isolated places over Thane, Raigad, Palghar, Ratnagiri, Sindhudurg, Mumbai districts. There is a possibility of rain with thundershowers.

Trees were seen uprooted at many places in the surrounding areas of Mumbai.

In Thane, a tree collapsed and fell on the tempo. 

The department said that the maximum temperatures in Delhi-NCR and other parts of northwest India will drop by a few degrees over the weekend, but no major relief is likely till June 15.

The department said that the moist easterly winds will bring a lot of relief from the scorching heat from June 16.

A Meteorological Department official said that pre-monsoon activity has been predicted in East Madhya Pradesh, Chhattisgarh and Odisha from June 12, but north Rajasthan, Punjab, Haryana, Delhi, Uttar Pradesh and North Madhya Pradesh will see above-normal temperatures. .
