Assam Congress has lodged an FIR against former BJP spokesperson Nupur Sharma and expelled BJP leader Naveen Jindal for making controversial remarks on Prophet Muhammad.Assam Pradesh Congress Committee (APCC) Two leaders associated with it said that this case has been registered on Friday.
These days, demonstrations are taking place in different parts of the country regarding the controversial remarks on Prophet Muhammad.
The Assam Congress Committee had given a complaint to the Bhangagarh police station in Guwahati, after which an FIR has been registered.

Congress leaders said that the statements made by both the BJP leaders are not only derogatory but also hurting the civilization and image of India.
This statement is going to affect the diversity and integrity of India.
Assam Pradesh Congress Committee senior spokesperson Romain Chandra Borthakur said that such statements always have an adverse and negative impact on our society.
It is considered a crime.
Therefore, I.P.S. against the above persons.
Action should be taken accordingly and exemplary punishment should be given to them.
Otherwise, it may invite unwanted situations in future.
Let us tell you that in the controversial remark case, BJP has suspended Nupur Sharma from the party on June 5 and expelled Delhi unit's media chief Naveen Kumar Jindal from the party itself.
In this case, many Muslim countries of the world were constantly trying to surround India.
However, after this controversy, a Delhi Police has increased the security of Nupur, because she was getting death threats.

Clashes in Kolkata For the second day, there has been another clash
between the police and the protesters over the Prophet dispute in Panchala Bazar of Howrah, adjacent to the capital of West Bengal.

Earlier yesterday too, demonstrations were held in some areas of the city against the controversial statement of suspended BJP leader Nupur Sharma.
Today the demonstration is going on here for the second day.
A heavy police force has been deployed at the spot to avoid any untoward incident.
