The German government has summed up through an official statement the visit of the German Chancellor, Olaf Scholz, to the five countries of the Western Balkans.

Scholz first visited Kosovo, then continued with Serbia, Northern Macedonia, Greece and Bulgaria.

Advancing the dialogue between Kosovo and Serbia was one of the topics that the German Chancellor paid special attention to.

Speaking about the importance of the EU-mediated dialogue, the German government says it is unimaginable that two countries that do not know each other become EU members.

According to the communiqué, progress in the dialogue process is among the most necessary things to happen now and it is also said that Kosovo and Serbia should move forward with the prospect of membership in the European Union.

"Scholz also stressed the importance of moving forward the EU-led dialogue between Kosovo and Serbia.

To this day, Serbia does not recognize the independence of Kosovo, which was once part of Serbian territory.

More than 20 years after the end of the war, NATO is still on duty with the KFOR mission in the Balkans to ensure security.

"According to the chancellor, it is unimaginable for two countries that do not know each other to become members of the EU", it is said in the press release.
