A case has been registered against former Delhi BJP media chief Naveen Kumar Jindal in Pune.

An FIR has been registered in Maharashtra's Pune city against Naveen Kumar Jindal, the former media chief of the party's Delhi unit, who was expelled from the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP).

An FIR has been registered against Jindal for allegedly hurting religious sentiments through his posts on social media about Prophet Mohammad, police said on Saturday.

On the other hand, the Mumbai Police has summoned the suspended BJP leader Nupur Sharma on June 25.

According to an official, he has been summoned in the case of controversial remarks about Prophet Mohammad.

An official in Pune said that a case has been registered at the Kondhwa police station in the city on the complaint of local resident Zakir Ilyas Sheikh.

He said that the complaint alleges that Jindal has hurt the religious sentiments of Muslims by posting a controversial tweet about Prophet Mohammad on June 1.

Based on this complaint, a case has been registered against Jindal.

Naveen Kumar Jindal has been booked under Indian Penal Code (IPC) sections 153-A (provocation with intent to cause riot), 153-B (making statement prejudicial to national unity), 295-A (intent to insult religion and religious belief) A case has been registered under section 505-II (statement causing mischief in public), 298 (utterance of words with intent to hurt religious feelings, etc.)

Earlier this month, an FIR was lodged against the then BJP spokesperson Nupur Sharma at the Kodhwa police station.

The case was registered against the Prophet for his alleged derogatory remarks.

A complaint was filed against Nupur Sharma by former Pune Municipal Corporation (PMC) councilor Abdul Ghafoor Pathan.

On June 5, BJP suspended its national spokesperson Nupur Sharma and expelled Naveen Kumar Jindal.

Now Mumbai Police has asked Nupur Sharma to appear on June 25.

Summons have been issued to him in the case of his controversial remarks about Prophet Muhammad.
