 The minimum temperature in the national capital was recorded at 29.8 degrees Celsius on Friday morning, which is two degrees above normal.

The IMD said on Thursday that the maximum temperatures will drop by a few degrees over the weekend in Delhi-NCR and other parts of northwest India, but no major relief is likely till June 15.

According to data from the System of Air Quality and Weather Forecasting and Research (SAFAR), Delhi's air quality index (AQI) was recorded in the poor (255) category at around 9 am.

An AQI between zero and 50 is considered good, 51 and 100 satisfactory, 101 and 200 moderate, 201 and 300 poor, 301 and 400 very poor, and 401 and 500 severe.

Jenamani said that the monsoon made landfall on the Kerala coast on 29 May and between 31 May and 7 June had reached South and Central Arabian Sea, entire Kerala, parts of Karnataka and Tamil Nadu.
