After meeting with German Chancellor Olaf Scholz, Serbian President Aleksandar Vucic said that at today's press conference in Pristina (Kurti-Scholz) he heard for the first time that someone in Europe is seeking mutual recognition between Kosovo and Serbia.

He said that Chancellor Scholz "was very tough and clear and firmly demanded that Serbia join the sanctions against Russia."

"Today we heard that mutual recognition is being sought, for the first time, we have not heard this from Europe until now.

It was a surprise for us, but Germany is big, we are small.

"It remains to be seen how we will deal with this," Vucic told a news conference with the German chancellor in Belgrade on Friday, Nova reports.

"No one has ever talked about mutual recognition, except the Americans who adopted that doctrine exactly three years ago," Vucic said.

He said things were changing in line with what was happening "in some other parts of Europe".

"If you think you should threaten us because we are trying to maintain the order of the United Nations or because we want to reach a compromise solution, we have nothing against it," Vucic said, adding that Serbia has never refused dialogue.

Otherwise, German Chancellor Scholz stressed today in Pristina that dialogue is very important and that the political agreement between Kosovo and Serbia should resolve the issue of recognition of Kosovo.

"Kosovo and Serbia through a comprehensive agreement to find a political solution.

"Dialogue is the way that opens Kosovo to the European perspective… It is clear that the agreement must resolve the issue of recognition of Kosovo", he said, Telegrafi reports.

Vuiqiiq further said that "Scholz was very harsh and that he clearly and decisively demanded that Serbia join the sanctions against Russia".

"We talked about the general political situation in Europe and in the world, and he clearly, decisively and harshly asked us to join the sanctions against Russia," Vucic said.

Vucic said he spoke about traditional ties between Serbia and Russia.

Meanwhile, German Chancellor Olaf Scholz said he expects candidate countries to join the bloc to join the bloc in sanctions against Russia over its occupation of Ukraine.

"It is important that as many countries as possible join the sanctions, because it is an instrument that helps Ukraine.

"Sanctions are very effective, much more effective after the sanctions imposed after the annexation of Crimea in 2014," said Scholz.

"The sixth package of EU sanctions against Russia will not disappear only after the war, but it is a condition for improving the situation so that Russia accepts the fact that it can not dictate peace, but must negotiate and agree. "with Ukraine for an agreement that will protect the integrity of Ukraine," said the German chancellor.

Scholz stayed in Belgrade after meeting in Pristina a few hours ago.
