The deputy director of Ukraine's military intelligence service told theguardian that Ukraine is losing ground on the front line and now relies almost exclusively on weapons to be sent by the West.

"This is an artillery war now.

"The future will now be decided at the edge of the battlefield and we are losing in terms of artillery," said Vadim Skibickij.

"Everything now depends on what the West gives us.

Ukraine has artillery for 10 to 15 Russians.

"Our western partners have given us about 10 percent that they promised us," he added.

"We have spent almost all of our artillery ammunition and now we are using NATO grenades.

"Europe is also supplying us with lower-caliber grenades," he said.

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky said last week that 60 to 100 Ukrainian soldiers die every day and 500 others are injured.

Skibicki believes that the conflict in the near future will be mainly artillery and that the number of missile attacks that can be launched by Russia and hit civilians will remain at the current level.
