In preparation for the summer of 2022, the Republican Center for Hygiene and Epidemiology, together with the Caspian Complex Environmental Monitoring Department of the Ministry of Ecology and Natural Resources, inspected the sanitary condition of beaches in Baku and Sumgayit and monitored sea water quality using laboratory research methods. was held.
The Health Ministry told APA that according to the results of the inspections, the physicochemical and bacteriological indicators of sea water at Mardakan, Shuvalan, Novkhani, Buzovna, Zagulba and Nardaran beaches were found to be normal.
During the monitoring, it was determined that intensive contamination of the sea with wastewater is still continuing in the sanitary protection zones of Shikh and Sahil beaches of Garadagh district of Sabail district.
As a result, the indicators of microbiological pollution in the water of these beaches exceeded the norm.
Also, during the monitoring, it was determined that the indicators of microbiological pollution of sea water do not meet the requirements of existing standards due to the pollution of wastewater discharged into the sanitary protection zones of Hovsan and Turkan beaches of Surakhani district.
According to the results of laboratory tests, the indicators of microbiological pollution of Pirshagi beach water did not meet the requirements of sanitary norms and regulations.
The number of bacteria in the group of intestinal spores, which is an indicator of microbiological contamination in seawater samples taken for laboratory examination during the monitoring carried out on Sumgayit city beach, exceeded the norm.
Taking into account that the current situation in the beach season in 2022 poses a serious threat to public health, the risk of occurrence and spread of infectious diseases among the population, referring to the Law of the Republic of Azerbaijan "On Sanitary and Epidemiological Safety" Resolutions of the Republican Center for Hygiene and Epidemiology on temporary banning the use of Hovsan, Turkan beaches of Khazar region, Pirshagi beaches of Sabunchu region and illegal beach areas as beaches in these areas remain in force, as well as a decision to temporarily ban the use of Sumgayit city beach as a beach was adopted.
