Normal life disrupted due to scorching heat

New Delhi:

Weather Alert Some parts of the north-west and central of the country remained in the grip of heat on Tuesday.

On the other hand, Banda in Uttar Pradesh recorded the highest temperature of 46.6 °C (Maximum temperature 46.6 °C).

There is no hope of relief from the scorching heat till at least Friday.

At least 37 towns and cities in Rajasthan, Haryana, Punjab, Madhya Pradesh, Uttar Pradesh and Chhattisgarh recorded maximum temperatures above 44 degrees Celsius.

Meanwhile, Southwest Monsoon has advanced into some more parts of Tamil Nadu, Puducherry and Karaikal, Southwest and West Central Bay of Bengal.

Monsoon is likely to remain weak for at least one more week.

At the same time, after intensifying till June 15, there may be good rain.

Safdarjung, the base station of the national capital, recorded a maximum temperature of 44 degrees Celsius, which was three degrees above normal.

The Meteorological Department says that no major change is expected in the maximum temperature in the next two to three days in the north-west and central parts of the country and after that the mercury is likely to drop by two to three degrees.

India Meteorological Department said, "During June 7 to 9, there is a possibility of heat wave at isolated places in Jammu division, Himachal Pradesh, Uttarakhand, Punjab, Haryana-Delhi and East Madhya Pradesh."

On the other hand, heat wave conditions are expected in Uttar Pradesh, Jharkhand and West Madhya Pradesh on Wednesday.

On the Monsoon front, due to westerly winds from the Arabian Sea over South Peninsular India, widespread rain and thundershowers are expected over Karnataka, Kerala and Lakshadweep in the next five days.

The Meteorological Department has predicted heavy rain at isolated places in South Interior Karnataka, Coastal Karnataka and Kerala till Saturday on Wednesday.
