From next week, the Chinese authorities will issue a monetary award and certificates of honor for denunciations of "violators of national security."

The Chinese will be able to receive up to 100,000 yuan (US $ 15,000) for the information provided about unreliable citizens.

This was reported by Reuters.

A spokesman for China's security ministry told Faji Zhibao that the measures were aimed at standardizing awards and motivating the public to fight foreign intelligence and other hostile forces.

The amount of the award will depend on the quality of the information provided.

If several citizens report the same offense, the first person will receive the money.

  • In many parts of China, the so-called "social credit" system is already in place, through which the authorities assess the reliability of citizens and organizations.

  • Citizens with a lot of "social credit" have access to the best hotels for rent to homes and schools.

  • "Unreliable" citizens may be restricted in their movement by public transport for a certain period of time.

According to official data, in 2017, 6 million people had problems buying tickets for trains, buses and planes.
