At least 10 passengers have been killed and 50 others injured after a passenger train derailed in

eastern

Iran .

This news has come from the Iranian media.

According to Iran's news agency

Tasnim,

 at least 13 people were injured and at least 50 were injured, of whom 15 are in critical condition, after a train derailed in eastern Iran on Wednesday morning.

This train was going from Mashad to Yazd.

The train derailed at around 5:30 am local time.

Officials have said that the train derailed after colliding with an excavator on the track.

The governor of Tabas said that the bogies of four trains derailed after the accident.

Helicopters and ambulances from three provinces have been sent to the accident site. 

In Iran, a train with more than 430 passengers derailed.

According to preliminary data, 13 people were killed and 50 injured, of whom 16 are in serious condition.

In recent years, Iran has added hundreds of rail bogies built by itself to its network.

This was done as part of an effort to modernize the railway network.

In September 2019, a train derailed in Sistan and Balochistan, killing three people and injuring 35.
