The increase of prices in the domestic market, as well as the inflation, have caused the reaction of many manufacturing businesses and not only, regarding their economic-business continuity.

"The state should immediately take measures to intervene in a possible escalation of the situation that may occur next winter," appealed the Chamber of Commerce of Northern Macedonia, asking for savings, especially of electricity from the state, citizens and companies.

Meanwhile, the State Statistical Office announced that inflation in May reached 11.9 percent and the government announced the decision on possible price interventions by the end of the week.

With the supplementary budget, new measures are expected in support of the most affected categories of citizens.

The president of the Northern Macedonia Chamber of Commerce, Branko Azeski, warned that economic activity could be severely affected and that companies could be shut down and jobs cut.

According to him, the state aims to save the citizens, but if it is not understood that the support of companies is needed and if this does not happen then, as he said, there will be serious problems.

"Economic activity must be preserved because without this, with the closure of capacities, we will create a bigger gap which in such an imminent uncertainty can have catastrophic consequences.

"The state should immediately give up some goods and not think of other alternatives, except rolling up their sleeves and solving the problem," said Azeski.

He said that all mechanisms should be maintained and used to cope with the situation, ie, as he said, to keep under control the situation that may escalate with the arrival of winter.

Particularly problematic, according to him, may be the increase in the price of electricity that affects the work of companies.

"We have defined proposals, we demand the reduction of consumption immediately with direct acts of the state because in our country nothing can be reduced.

The state should find a mechanism to reduce consumption by 10 to 20 percent and increase the level of electricity production by 20 percent.

"In that way, an opportunity would be created for some adjustment of the price of electricity that is distributed to companies", said Azeski.

He also stressed that there are serious indications of unusual movements in companies in the field of transactions, especially those dealing with trade, and that there may be inflationary pressures from this side.

Therefore, Azeski estimates, controls are needed that will be in that direction to make efforts to prevent some processes that may affect the overall economy.
