Russia uses food as a weapon of war, steals grain, blocks ports and turns arable land into battlefields.

APA reports that the President of the European Union (EU) Council Charles Michel said this in his speech at the European Parliament.

He said more than 20 million tons of wheat, grain and corn were left in Ukrainian seaports.

President Michel noted that an emergency meeting in Brussels on May 30-31 discussed logistics opportunities for the delivery of these food products to the world market.

He said that global hunger should concern everyone, and therefore requires a comprehensive, coordinated approach.

"We are working on this issue within the G7, with the African Union and other partners."

He said the Kremlin had turned global food supplies into weapons.

The EU official compared these steps to the Soviet Union.

"Russian warships and missiles block Ukrainian ports and do not allow food exports, and Russian tanks, artillery and mines do not allow Ukraine to carry out agricultural and agricultural activities."

He stressed that the EU has not imposed sanctions on Russian agricultural products.
