The Press Council has issued an obituary on the death of honored journalist, Professor Nasir Ahmadli.

The council told APA that the obituary stated:

"Azerbaijani journalism, scientific community and the intelligentsia as a whole have suffered heavy losses. Professor of Baku State University's journalism faculty, member of the Board of the Press Council of Azerbaijan, Azerbaijan Writers 'Union and Azerbaijan Journalists' Union, honored journalist, doctor of philological sciences Nasir Ahmadli died. Ahmadli Nasir Abbas oglu was born in 1942 in

village of Tovuz region. He served in the military in 1962-1965. In 1971 he graduated from the journalism faculty of the Azerbaijan State University (now Baku State University). He defended his PhD in 2007 and his doctoral dissertation in 2007.


Having devoted his long and meaningful life to journalism, N.Ahmedli began his scientific and pedagogical activity at BSU after working at the Azerbaijan State Television, and until the end of his life he was a professor at the "International Journalism and Information Policy" department of the faculty.


Ahmadli, who has become a favorite of everyone who knows him, his colleagues and countless students, has made great contributions to the development of journalism in Azerbaijan, both as a profession and as a scientist.

The author of more than 100 scientific articles, 3 monographs, 1 textbook, 5 textbooks, a total of 15 books, he drew attention with his fundamental scientific research.

He developed a model scheme that could be applied to all areas of international radio broadcasting, and identified six laws in this area.


Ahmadli participated in prestigious scientific meetings held in a number of countries around the world.

He has made an exceptional contribution to Azerbaijani science as a whole, especially to linguistics, which is considered an important field, with his numerous scientific researches on theoretical and practical issues of journalism, which is considered the art of speech.

He substantiated the fact that the press and the media in general are a language phenomenon with his special approach, stressed the importance of protecting the Azerbaijani language in his public activities, and set an exemplary approach in this direction.

It should be noted that Nasir Muallim's science is also a unique phenomenon that can be assessed as a combination of science and journalism.

Therefore, his multifaceted activity gave him the image of both a patriotic scientist and a valuable intellectual in society.


N.Ahmedli, who was awarded the honorary title of Honored Journalist of Azerbaijan in 2010, was also awarded the Order of "Labor" III degree, the 1st degree of the Supreme Media Award, and many other popular awards in the field of journalism.


Azerbaijani society has lost in the face of N.Ahmedli a real intellectual, an example of sincerity, care, nobility, a hard-working scientist distinguished by his point of view and position, a person who influenced journalism, loved the profession, a master pen owner.

The weight of this loss is enormous.
