A person was left dead and a woman received serious bodily injuries as a result of the fall of a tree (oak) by strong winds on Monday around 15:10, in Prishtina.

The 24 hour report of the Kosovo Police states that the victim who received serious bodily injuries was sent for medical treatment to the University Clinical Center of Kosovo (UCCK).

The report further states that with the decision of the prosecutor, the dead body of the victim was sent for autopsy.

"As a result of the strong wind, a tree fell and which fell on two bystanders.

As a result of the received wounds, the Kosovar male victim remained dead on the spot, while the Kosovar female victim was sent for medical treatment to the UCCK with serious bodily injuries.

"With the decision of the prosecutor, the dead body of the victim was sent for autopsy", the report states.

Otherwise, on Monday in a statement for the Telegraph, the doctor on duty at UCCK, Ejup Govori had said that "the 30-year-old has serious injuries in the lower extremities".

"Her condition is stable, so she is out of danger for life, but there are serious injuries in the lower extremities.

"We still do not have a detailed report but it is suspected of a fracture", he had said.

Govori had added that: "The injured person also has back pain and it is suspected that there may be ring injuries".

Whereas, the deputy mayor of Prishtina, Alban Zogaj the day before had called on citizens to be careful while moving in the city.

He through a note on Facebook had appealed for extra care especially in areas where there are trees.

"Please, due to heavy rain and strong winds, be CAUTION, especially in parts of the city that have trees around!

"Our rescue teams are on the ground and dealing with accidents," he wrote.
