The decision to suspend Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) national spokesperson Nupur Sharma and expel Delhi unit's media chief Naveen Kumar Jindal did not go down well with many state unit leaders and workers. .

Bharatiya Janata Party insiders claimed on Monday.

A senior Delhi BJP functionary said on the lines of anonymity, "Two party functionaries were bidding for the party.

They should not have been punished for just crossing the border at this point of time.

BJP national spokesperson Nupur Sharma was suspended while the party's Delhi unit's media chief Naveen Kumar Jindal was expelled for allegedly making controversial remarks against Prophet Mohammad. 

After the disputed statement, Qatar, Kuwait, Iran also expressed its opposition;
