In Europe, a single adapter is used for electrical engineering

EU member states and the European Parliament have agreed to introduce a single adapter for all small and medium-sized electronic equipment.

APA reports that as a rule, all digital cameras, mobile phones, tablets, headphones and game consoles must be equipped with C-type USB.

Manufacturers have been given until the fall of 2024 to adapt to the new rules.

The period for laptop manufacturers is longer - 40 months.

The purpose of the new rule is to reduce the amount of electronic waste, along with the protection of consumer rights.

According to consumer rights activists, the fact that people carry a large number of adapters should go down in history.

Although Apple resisted for a long time, it eventually agreed to a single adapter.

A report by the European Parliament says: "The new rules will allow European consumers to save up to € 250 million a year.

In Europe, up to 11,000 tons of adapters are thrown away every year because they are not used and become electronic waste.

The European Union intends to take a similar step in the next phase with wireless adapters.
