Foreign Minister Bujar Osmani told Sitel that the presence of Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov in Belgrade would mean the non-holding of the Western Balkans summit in Ohrid on June 7th and 8th.

Lavrov did not arrive in Belgrade today, as Montenegro, Macedonia and Bulgaria suspended flights, while the "Open Balkans" summit in Ohrid, in addition to Prime Minister Dimitar Kovacevski, will be attended by Serbian President Aleksandar Vucic and Albanian Prime Minister Edi Rama. Montenegrin Prime Minister Dritan Abazovic is also invited.

"We considered that this request of the embassy for the release of this special flight is also in line with our attitude towards aggression.

The message is that it is unacceptable to attack independent countries in the 21st century. It is a value system.

It is about holding the Western Balkans Summit in Ohrid if this visit would take place.

Regional initiatives must be in line with some of the core values and principles we believe in, and Russian aggression is at odds with them.

"The failure of this visit encourages the holding of an Open Balkans meeting," Osmani said.
