Bulgaria fully implements the recommendations for prevention of corruption among MPs and prosecutors.

This is stated in a report of the Group of States against Corruption (GRECO) to the Council of Europe, presented today.

The data show that our country fully implements 67 percent and partially 33 percent of the recommendations regarding judges.

Overall, Bulgaria is implementing 84 percent of the recommendations and 16 percent - partially, the data show.

These are some of the highest performance indicators, with only Finland and Norway fully complying with the Group's views, while the United Kingdom, Albania and Lithuania have a higher share of Bulgaria's overall performance.

Kiril Petkov: Our fight against corruption continues, this is our big task

The report covers 23 countries, noting that countries most often pass anti-corruption legislation, but implementation is slow.

Some countries attribute this to the impact of the pandemic.

The summary data show that last year the countries implemented 45 percent of the recommendations in full, 37 percent in part, and 18 percent of the requirements have not yet been followed by the necessary actions.

The group urges governments to step up their efforts to lobby lobbyists to limit their influence in political decision-making.

Lobbying can contribute to the democratic process, but full implementation of anti-corruption requirements is needed, for example through the introduction of registers of lobbyists and diaries of meetings with them and the issues discussed, the report recommends.
