North Korean leader Kim Jong-un has sent a letter to British Queen Elizabeth II congratulating her on her 70th birthday.

According to foreign media, the Telegraph reports, the North Korean leader is the latest, and probably one of the most unexpected leaders in the world who would mark the Platinum Jubilee.

The exact content of his letter has not yet been revealed, Telegrafi reports.

The North Korean Foreign Ministry simply confirmed on its website that Jong sent a letter "congratulating the Queen and the British people."

This comes as tensions between North and West Korea continue to rise as the number of the country's nuclear tests has increased.

Just last week, the Jong regime launched three rockets into the sea.

The tests took place just hours after US President Joe Biden left Asia, where he promised to tighten measures to thwart the nuclear-armed state.

Otherwise, Queen Elizabeth II is the first British monarch to reach 70 years on the throne - otherwise known as Jubilee Platini.
