During a meeting with NATO Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg on Thursday, US President Joe Biden said he supported Finland's and Sweden's efforts to ensure that the NATO accession process continues at full speed, taking into account the interests of all allies.

APA reports quoting TASS that the statement came from the White House press service on Thursday.

The meeting was also attended by US Vice President Kamala Harris.

Biden, Harris and Stoltenberg discussed the impact of Russia's war in Ukraine on transatlantic security, as well as the need to strengthen NATO's deterrence and defense capabilities.

"They also welcomed Finland's and Sweden's applications for NATO membership, and President Biden expressed strong support for Secretary-General Stoltenberg's efforts to facilitate a rapid membership process that addresses the security concerns of all allies," the statement said.
