On June 1, the Supreme Court denied Mikola Statkevich and other participants in the Tikhanovsky case a review of his sentence.

The materials of his case have been sent to the Homel pre-trial detention center No. 3, where Statkevich is still being held.

According to the rules, the politician must be transferred to the place of execution within 10 days.

In Mikola's case, it is the Hlybokaje colony, where prisoners are provided with a special regime of detention.

Mikola Statkevich's wife Maryna Adamovich went to Homel immediately after the appeal was considered and was able to see her husband for the first time in two months.

"It was a meeting that you may or may not receive," said Maryna Adamovich.

- They give permission after the appeal is considered, but it is valid only until the documents from the court to the pre-trial detention center have arrived.

We were lucky, I managed to see Nikolai.

Two hours, in the same room and in the same place, which is already personal for Nicholas.

I have a great mood, because Nicholas looks good, despite two years in prison, despite the conditions, despite the three times transferred coronavirus.

He has now recovered.

The feeling that I did not say goodbye to him for a minute.

Mikola Statkevich's previous meeting with his wife took place before the transfer of his case for appeal, in early April.

Maryna Adamovich says that she and her husband did not even mention the results of the appeal.

For them, it was the only chance to get the right to meet, so this event was perceived only through such an opportunity.

"It was such an expected surprise for us," says Marina.

- Mikola asked to thank all Belarusians who continue to support political prisoners.

Not just him, but everyone.

Mikola says that political prisoners cannot be divided into categories depending on the reason for their imprisonment.

The support of political prisoners in such a difficult time requires courage, his gratitude to the Belarusians is boundless.

Mikola says that all people who have suffered for their civil position, without exception, should have support. "

Since the beginning of the war in Ukraine, Mikola Statkevich has received almost no reports of freedom.

The exceptions are remittances and parcels sent to him by people.

Correspondence almost completely stopped.

"A lot has been said about Ukraine, about events in the world," says Maryna Adamovich.

- I am very impressed that Mikola listed all the cases of territorial disputes over the past 70 years, all the cases of aggression that have taken place during this time.

Nicholas believes that the war will drag on.

But closer to the fall the front stabilizes.

He says that at this stage Putin can be satisfied with the return of "LPR" and "DPR" in the region, but the Ukrainians will not agree.

Mikola also fears that the conflict could turn into a full-fledged world war. "

According to Maryna Adamovich, Mikola Statkevich is in solitary confinement almost all the time and is going to continue to be imprisoned in this way.

The politician does not want to allow the administration to choose his cellmates and thus somehow influence him.

On December 14, 2022, Mikola Statkevich was sentenced to 14 years in prison under a special regime.

He has been behind bars since May 31, 2020.
