Newsom has mild symptoms and will remain isolated until at least Thursday and until he tests negative for the virus, his office said.

Meanwhile, the Democrat governor plans to work remotely.

The governor's office said it had informed Jacinda Ardern's delegation of a positive covid test given by Newsom.

The two leaders met Friday at the Golden Gate Park in San Francisco, where they announced an agreement they had reached to combat climate change.

The New Zealand prime minister tested positive for coronavirus earlier this month, the Associated Press reports.
