The Allahabad High Court, while rejecting the bail application of a lawyer, said on Thursday that the victim in this case was working as a junior in the petitioner's office.

Allegations of sexual harassment have been leveled against a person practicing law and engaged in a noble profession.

The respect of an advocate's office is no less than the honor of the court.

Justice Samit Gopal said, "After hearing the arguments of both the sides and considering the facts, it is proved that the petitioner is named in the FIR and his name is also included in the statements of the victim under sections 161 and 164 of CrPC."

The court said, “These allegations are of sexual abuse and assault which continued for a long time.

The victim has told her ordeal in her statement against the petitioner.

There is no reason to show that the petitioner is being falsely implicated."

Thus, the court rejected the bail application of High Court lawyer Rajkaran Patel.

It is noteworthy that on April 7, 2021, the victim's mother had lodged an FIR against Rajkaran Patel and Sepoy Lal Shukla under section 366 (kidnapping) of IPC at Civil Lines police station in Prayagraj district, both Rajkaran and Sepoy Lal in Allahabad. High Court Advocate.

The next hearing in the Allahabad High Court in the matter related to the Gyanvapi dispute will be on July 6.

The FIR alleges that his 22-year-old daughter is a student of LLB and was practicing law with Rajkaran Patel.

The police added section 376 (rape) of the Indian Penal Code after preliminary investigation of the case and taking the statement of the victim.

The counsel for the petitioner argued that his client has been falsely implicated in the case.

The victim is an adult and according to her statement, she used to come to the High Court with a lawyer and was working with him.

She kept changing her statement.

However, the counsel for the state government opposed the bail application saying that the present case is one in which an advocate has exploited a law student on the pretext of imparting legal training in his office and court.
