An earthquake measuring 7 on the Richter scale was registered in southern Peru, the Euro-Mediterranean Seismological Center (ESSC) said, quoted by BTA.

The earthquake was at a depth of 200 kilometers, according to the ESSC.

The epicenter was 83 kilometers west of the city of Juliaca with a population of 245,000 people, at a depth of 206 kilometers.

So far there are no reports of damage or injuries.

The US Tsunami Warning Center said no danger had been issued.
