In Azerbaijan, the world's oldest center of carpet weaving, this type of art has been passed down from generation to generation for centuries and has been preserved until modern times.

Carpet motifs have always stimulated the emergence of new ideas and works.

The Heydar Aliyev Foundation, which supports the survival and development of the carpet school in Azerbaijan, as well as its promotion in the world, has organized a number of projects and exhibitions in this direction in Azerbaijan and abroad.

Azerbaijan's traditional carpet weaving art, which is included in the UNESCO Representative List of Intangible Cultural Heritage, still enjoys new projects.

The Sumakh collection, created with the support of the Heydar Aliyev Foundation by designer Rufat Ismayil using the motifs, rich colors and patterns of Azerbaijani carpets and dedicated to Azerbaijan's Karabakh victory, is also noteworthy in this regard.

The AFFFAIR in Carpets show will feature a fashion show of about 50 costumes from the Sumakh Haute Couture and Sumakh Affordable Luxury collections.

Sumakh Haute Couture has been demonstrated in Paris and Moscow to date.

The Sumakh Affordable Luxury collection will be presented for the first time in Baku.

The works based on 5 famous carpet motifs included in the collection are especially noteworthy:

“Achma-yumma” carpet differs from Karabakh carpets by its artistic features and is a part of a complex of patterns from the series of “Achma-yumma” carpets.

Elements of another work of beauty originated from the "Karabakh" carpet.

At first glance, this composition, consisting of repetitive elements, is lined up and immersed in the Milky Way.

The work "Nakhchivan" was created from a new artistic composition using various elements of the carpet, which is an example of the Karabakh school of carpet weaving, including the patterns of "Khatai" and "Chalabi" carpets.

Inspired by the beauty of the elements of Karabakh's "Hunting" carpets, the artist created a network of artistic compositions using elements of the "Bandi-Rumi" composition, which is widely used in Azerbaijani and Middle Eastern art schools.

The work called "Pazyryg" originates from the central elements of the carpet of the same name, which belongs to the Turkic lineage and is considered the oldest carpet in the world (2500 years), kept in the State Hermitage Museum in St. Petersburg, Russia.

Inspired by Azerbaijani carpets, especially the Karabakh carpet-weaving school, the project aims to revive historical traditions in modern directions.
