Science, faith and education are the way to get rid of oppression and poverty, said President Rumen Radev

Rumen Georgiev Radev is a Bulgarian military man, a major general in the reserve.

Former commander in his celebratory speech on the occasion of May 24 at the celebrations in Plovdiv.

"Plovdiv Planet of the Spirit is built with dedication, selflessness, wisdom and foresight of prominent Bulgarian intellectuals and titans of the spirit such as Naiden Gerov, Joakim Gruev, Stoyan Chomakov and many others.

"With pen and deed, they preached that the greatest human tragedy is ignorance, and the way to get rid of oppression and poverty is science and universal education," he said.

Radev: Our language will continue to unite us as a nation

The head of state emphasized the importance of Plovdiv for the Bulgarian Revival and education, noting that today's holiday originated in the city in 1851.

The President called on the Bulgarians to pay tribute to today's educators and awakeners, their teachers.
