217 relief camps and 224 relief distribution centers have been opened in flood affected areas

Once again the havoc of floods is being seen in Assam.

As many as 1,929 villages in 29 districts have come under the grip of heavy floods caused by pre-monsoon rains.

More than 7.17 lakh people have been affected by the floods.

According to the government report, 9 people have died due to floods.

At the same time, 49,400 people have been given a place in the relief camp.

The mobile network has completely collapsed at many places in the flood-affected areas.

  • Flood affected 49,400 people in the state have been shifted to relief camps.

  • Hojai and Cachar districts are most affected by the floods.

    More than 1 lakh people have been affected in these districts.

    The army has rescued more than 2,000 people stranded in Hojai district as part of the rescue efforts.

  • Meanwhile, a video has surfaced in which BJP MLAs are seen riding on the back of an employee to escape from the flood waters.

    When BJP MLA from Lumding assembly Sibu Mishra had come to take stock of the flood relief, he rode on the back of an employee working for flood relief to avoid the water.

    This video of him is becoming increasingly viral.

  • Dima Hasao district located in South Assam remained cut off from other parts of the country for the fifth day today.

    A landslide caused by rain has cut off road and rail connectivity to Dima Hasao.

  • Road and rail connectivity has also been snapped since Sunday for the Barak Valley as well as important parts of Tripura, Mizoram and Manipur.

  • The supply of Turbine Fuel (ATF) at Maharaja Bir Bikram Airport in Tripura has been affected due to Assam floods.

    ATF has been supplied from Assam to the airport through road and rail but it has been affected due to floods.

  • After the road and rail blockade, there is a huge jump in the demand for air tickets and their prices.

    The ticket for Agartala-Guwahati route is not available till May 22.

  • So far 9 people have been reported dead due to the floods.

    The Assam government has announced a compensation of Rs 4 lakh each to the families of those who died. 

  • The crop has also suffered heavy damage due to the floods.

    A total of 58,065.29 hectare crop area has been affected.
