Hundreds of opposition protesters trying to block dozens of streets in the capital, Yerevan, were detained in Armenia today, a AFP journalist quoted BTA as saying.

According to a police press release quoted by AFP at 07.00 GMT, the police detained 277 people "for a short time".

The opposition views Armenia's military defeat by Azerbaijan in 2020 as a national disgrace and has since tried to force Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan to resign.
