President of the Council of the European Union (EU) Charles Michel has called for the establishment of the European Geopolitical Union.

APA reports that President Michel said this during his speech at the plenary session of the European Economic and Social Committee.

"I call for the establishment of the European Geopolitical Union. The aim is to deepen cooperation to bring together common challenges, peace, stability and security on our continent and to take concrete steps in this direction. I will propose a conference in the summer or later. It will bring together leaders from the EU and relevant partner countries to discuss concrete options for the new project, "said Charles Michel.

He also said that he would hold a meeting with France, which holds the presidency of the EU Council, in June with the participation of EU leaders and leaders of the Western Balkans.
