Mandala:

An elderly couple and their minor granddaughter were allegedly murdered by unidentified people in Madhya Pradesh's Mandla district and the elderly woman was beheaded and hanged on a tree.

A 62-year-old man, his 57-year-old wife and 12-year-old granddaughter were found dead by the locals on Tuesday morning, a police official said.

Additional Superintendent of Police Gajendra Singh Kavar said that on the intervening night of Monday-Tuesday in Patadei village of Mohgaon police station area, about 40 km from the district headquarters, the assailants slit the throat of the couple while sleeping on the terrace of their house.

Mohgaon police station in-charge SL Markam said that the attackers beheaded the woman and hanged her from a tree in a field, a kilometer away from the house.

After getting the information, the police reached the spot on Tuesday morning.

He said that the police is probing the incident and trying to gather information about other family members of the deceased.
