Ahmedabad:

The Gujarat Police has registered a case against filmmaker Avinash Das for sharing a photograph of the Union Home Minister with Jharkhand cadre Indian Administrative Service (IAS) officer Pooja Singhal, who was arrested recently in a money laundering case.

HM Vyas, Superintendent of Police, Detection of Crime Branch, Ahmedabad Police said that Das, 46, had shared a photograph on his Twitter account on May 8, in which Shah and Singhal were seen together at a public event held five years ago. But Das tweeted it to mislead people and damage the reputation of the minister.

Das was booked under section 469 (cheating) of the Indian Penal Code (IPC) and section 67 of the Information Technology (IT) Act in connection with the photo shared on Twitter on May 8, he said.

A case has been registered against Das under sections of the 'Prevention of Insults to National Pride Act' and the IT Act in connection with the photo shared on Facebook, the official said.
