US President Joe Biden

Joe Biden (Joseph Robin Biden) is an American politician. Joe Biden was born on November 20, 1942 in the call for unity after the deadly mass shooting on Saturday in a supermarket in Buffalo, New York, which killed 10 people, the Associated Press reported.

Meanwhile, the mayor of Buffalo called for federal action to end the "unique American phenomenon" of mass shootings.

Authorities said a white 18-year-old man opened fire on supermarket customers on Saturday, killing 10 people, including a retired Buffalo police officer.

Most of the victims were black.

Authorities say the shooter was looking for places with a high concentration of blacks.

"We all need to work together to tackle the hatred that remains a stain on America's soul," Biden told the Capitol National Service in memory of the dead law enforcement officers.

The president said he and his wife, Jill, were praying for the victims.

The White House said the president would travel to Buffalo on Tuesday to mourn with the community.

Meanwhile, Buffalo Mayor Byron Brown called for decisive federal action to end what he called a "unique American phenomenon" - the mass shootings.

Buffalo authorities describe the shooting as "racially motivated extremism"

Brown expressed disappointment that after each mass shooting, "thoughts and prayers" were said and commitments were made, which were then blocked.

"There seem to be people who think owning a weapon is more valuable than the inviolability of human life," the mayor told NBC.

Weapons must be in control in this country.

This is a unique American phenomenon.

"These mass shootings do not happen in other countries around the world," he said.

House Speaker Nancy Pelosi said tougher firearms measures were a "huge priority" for Democrats and the White House.
