During the telephone conversation, US Secretary of State Anthony Blinken congratulated the great leader Heydar Aliyev on the 99th anniversary of his birth, Malahat Ibrahimgizi said.

He also noted that the US State Department and US ambassadors to the three countries of the South Caucasus have recently visited Azerbaijan and fruitful discussions were held during the visit.

The US Secretary of State expressed support for the talks between Azerbaijan and Armenia and the conclusion of a peace agreement in this regard, and expressed hope that this will contribute to lasting peace in the region.

Anthony Blinken also stressed that the United States is ready to support the process of delimitation and demarcation of borders between Azerbaijan and Armenia, the opening of transport lines.

"At a time when major powers, especially the United States, are focusing on the Russia-Ukraine war, Anthony Blinken called the President of Azerbaijan, paid tribute to national leader Heydar Aliyev, discussed the developments in the region, Washington's normalization of Azerbaijani-Armenian relations, expressed support for the process of signing a peace agreement between the two countries.

Support for a peace agreement, delimitation and demarcation process is also an expression of US support for Azerbaijan's territorial integrity.

Thus, the United States recognizes the reality of Azerbaijan's victory in the Patriotic War under the leadership of Supreme Commander-in-Chief Ilham Aliyev, the importance of holding talks with Azerbaijan and taking into account Azerbaijan's interests for peace, development and prosperity in the region.

President Ilham Aliyev also noted that Azerbaijan has determined the composition of the national commission to begin the process of delimitation and demarcation as soon as possible, and stressed the importance of opening transport and communication lines.

At the same time, the sides touched upon issues related to the humanitarian agenda between Armenia and Azerbaijan.
