The Albanian MP of the Parliamentary Group Democracy and Integration, Mesila Doda requested today at the conference of mayors, to hold a memorial session on June 27 in the Albanian Parliament for the victims of the genocide of the Albanians of Chameria.

Today at the conference of mayors, starting from the discussion regarding the draft resolution presented in the Parliament for the genocide in Bosnia and Herzegovina, Mesila Doda, formally requested that the Albanian Parliament should first of all honor the victims of the Albanians of Chameria.

"I have no problem for us to express ourselves regarding the genocidal acts that took place in the countries of the region, but based on this initiative I would think that we should first honor our history.

"There is a decision of the Albanian Parliament of 1994 that declares June 27 the day of commemoration of the genocide against the Albanians of Chameria", said Doda.

"Today I officially ask this conference for the Albanian Parliament to hold a memorial session for this martyred population, giving the sign of honoring our history and innocent victims.

"I expect this to be a step that will unite all political forces in a session in honor of our history and the remembrance of the victims," she said.
