It is still unknown whether Kosovo has applied to the Council of Europe.

The Government of Kosovo has not responded until experts on these issues have said that this time is the best momentum for Kosovo.

Kosovo's goal for this year is Kosovo's membership in the Council of Europe.

Leonora Kryeziu from the Pristina Institute for Political Studies (PIPS), is seeing a better momentum for Kosovo to join the organization after Russia was suspended.

"Kosovo has a very favorable momentum in front of it and should use this opportunity to the maximum, as the suspension of Russia made Kosovo's membership in this institution much easier," Kryeziu told RTV Dukagjini.

To apply, Kryeziu says Kosovo should invite a Council of Europe member state.

"After a member state of the Council of Europe invites Kosovo, the candidacy goes to the Parliamentary Assembly, the Committee of Ministers seeks an opinion from the Parliamentary Assembly", Kryeziu further says.

That now is the time says another expert on European issues, Shqiprim Pula, but according to him this should be taken more seriously by Kosovo.

"In legal terms, Kosovo has met the criteria, as within the Constitution of the Republic of Kosovo are included international conventions that are implemented by the Council of Europe.

"Kosovo's membership in this institution should happen, but this should be preceded by a great seriousness on the part of the Government to make the application and a great lobbying."

So far, Germany has openly expressed its support for Kosovo's membership in the Council of Europe.
