In late April, it became known that the appeal against the sentence of Ihar Losik and a number of other political prisoners would be considered by the Supreme Court on May 31.

The verdict, according to which Igor received 15 years in prison, was announced on December 14 last year.

All this time the journalist of Svaboda was in the pre-trial detention center-3 of Homel, where he was transferred from the Zhodzina remand prison almost a year ago.

Igor Losik will be transferred to the colony only after the appeal is considered.

Igor's wife

Daria Losik

told the latest news about her husband.

"Igor's case has been transferred to the Supreme Court, and we are waiting for the appeal to be considered, so we are not allowed to meet before the appeal," Darya says.

- This is the practice.

Therefore, probably, my next meeting with Igor will be the day after the appeal. "

Whether Igor will personally attend the complaint, no one knows yet.

According to Darya Losik, she is almost convinced that her husband and other defendants will not be taken to Minsk.

According to her, now Igor's biggest problem is an almost complete ban on correspondence.

It has been going on for more than two months.

“A man has been sentenced to 15 years, what is the point of blocking letters from other people now?

- complains Daria Losik.

- They spend their money, buy envelopes, postcards and stamps to send something to Igor.

He has not received a single letter from relatives since the end of February.

Exactly since the beginning of the war.

As soon as it started, the letters stopped coming.

Although Igor will soon have a birthday (May 20).

I am sure people will write to him.

But from the fact that someone has a tendency to sadism, he will not receive these letters.

According to Daria, Igor Losik has been receiving letters only from her, her parents and sometimes from her aunt and brother for more than two months.

Nobody's letters are given to him anymore.

"The last time I saw Igor was in late April, it was with the permission of the Gomel Regional Court," says Daria.

- Letters from him are different.

There were a number of very positive letters.

Igor and I remembered how we lived before all this horror.

We discussed what we would like to do next, when it will all be over.

Igor asks what I would like to do, where I would like to work.

Such everyday moments.

But there were also letters where Igor wrote that he was tired of everything.

That he has been in a stone bag for two years just like that, sentenced to nothing for 15 years.

It's hard for him. "

In correspondence with relatives, Igor Losik himself strongly complains about the ban on correspondence.

According to him, the ban is not explained in the pre-trial detention center.

"Letters are not given to me at all," Ihar Losik writes.

- Without explaining the reasons, as usual.

Surprising decision given that I am registered as suicidal.

It is a pity that people spend money, time, emotions, and all this goes to the dump through someone who, apparently, is prone to sadism.

Daria also talks about Igor's health problems.

He has old gastritis, which is difficult to treat in the pre-trial detention center.

The political prisoner also complains to the eye - during two years of imprisonment he has severely damaged his eyesight.

There is no light in the camera and there is simply no place to look at long distances, which is necessary to maintain visual acuity.

"Ihar also complains a lot about not being allowed to hand over his things to me," says Darya Losik.

- He has been complaining about it for a long time.

Igor has gathered a lot of things in two years, he will soon have a new stage in the colony.

That's why Igor wants to hand over some of the things I don't need, it's very difficult to transport them later with handcuffed hands.

The colony has completely different rules, other things are needed there.

To convey, Igor has already written about 10 statements addressed to the head of the pre-trial detention center-3 Gomel Rubanov AA, but there is no answer to them.

Either the head of the pre-trial detention center No. 3 is very busy, or he does not consider Igor's application.

I am inclined to the second option. "

Despite the small chances to see Igor in the hall of the Supreme Court, Daria is going to come in person to Minsk on May 31 and try to get to the meeting.

"Of course I'll be there," she says.

- I think I will not be allowed to enter the room where the appeal will be considered.

Where we will be told that the sentence is upheld.

Or come up with something else.

But I plan to go to the Supreme Court.

In any case, during the appeal I will be either at the Supreme Court or somewhere inside the building. "
