Two Austrian ministers have resigned within a day, and Chancellor Karl Nechamer's coalition government is struggling to stay in power, BTA reported.

The Minister of Agriculture, Regions and Tourism Elizabeth Koestinger, who is from the ruling Austrian People's Party (APP), announced her resignation and explained that she had been planning this since last year, after former Chancellor Sebastian Kurz resigned. .

Hours later, Economy Minister Margarete Schrambyok, also from the ANP, who was ridiculed for mistakes in her speeches and political decisions, said she was resigning.

Koestinger is considered close to Kurz, who resigned in October after a formal corruption investigation was launched against him.

Two months later, Nehamer became Chancellor and Chairman of the ANP.

The ANP runs the country in an unstable coalition with the Greens and is under pressure over various investigations into corruption and rising living costs.

According to opinion polls, since the beginning of May, Nehamer's party has the support of only 24 percent of voters, lagging behind the Austrian Social Democratic Party (ASP), which is backed by 28 percent of voters.

The ASA and the far-right Austrian Freedom Party called for new elections today.

Koestinger's resignation has shown that even members of the government do not believe in the future of the coalition between the ANP and the Greens, said Jörg Leichtfried, deputy chairman of the Social Democrats' parliamentary group.
