Due to its geographical location, Greece has the potential to become a gateway for natural gas from the Middle East and the Eastern Mediterranean to Europe, said Greek Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis.

Kyriakos Mitsotakis - Greek economist and politician. Mitsotikis was born in Athens on March 4, 1968 at a meeting with the heir to the throne of Abu Dhabi Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, ANA-MPA reported.

Today, Mitsotakis is visiting the United Arab Emirates at the head of a large government delegation.

The Greek Prime Minister noted that large investments are currently being made in the field of natural gas transmission and that Athens would like to further expand strategic cooperation and the participation of UAE capital.

He said Greece was reactivating its own natural gas production program, which also created preconditions for co-operation with the UAE, along with areas such as renewable energy, offshore wind farms and more.

Mitsotakis described Al Nahyan as a stable and loyal friend of Greece and assured him that Greece would side with the UAE "when they feel their strategic interests are threatened".

For his part, the heir to the throne of Abu Dhabi noted that the agreement on strategic cooperation signed between the two countries in 2020 is yielding results and trade has increased by 76 percent.

Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan said the UAE was following the events in Ukraine with great concern and was ready to mediate and provide humanitarian assistance.

He stressed that the UAE is interested in the stability of the energy market and that despite the crises, the Middle East and the Mediterranean have great prospects for developing energy cooperation.

The heir to the throne said that his country is willing to develop cooperation with all without exception.
